Do’s:
- You can continue your usual activities throughout pregnancy. But excessive and strenuous work should be avoided specially in the first trimester
- Take well balanced nutritious diet rich in iron, calcium, protein, zinc, vitamin C & folic acid

- You should lie on left lateral position to avoid vena caval compression. Sleeping on your left side will increase the amount of blood and nutrients that reach to your baby.
- Sleep for about 10 hours in a day to improve hormone secretion, which is needed for the continuity of the pregnancy. (8 hours in night and 2 hours in the afternoon after lunch)
- Take bath regularly and be careful to avoid slipping
- Advice to wear loose and comfortable cloths
- Attend every antenatal checkups and follow your doctor’s advice

Don’ts:
- High heels shoes should be avoided in advanced pregnancy when the centre of balance alters.
- Constricting belt also should be avoided.
- If you feel giddiness or fatigue , avoid self driving &you are advised to not to latch the bath room doors.
- You should avoid traveling by jerking vehicles in the first trimester.
- You can prefer rail route rather than bus route for long travel.

- Air traveling is contra-indicated in cases with lower implantation of placenta, increased blood pressure, severe anaemia and sickle cell disease
- Women with increased risk of miscarriage or preterm labour should avoid coitus during pregnancy.
- Smoking and alcohol consumption should be drastically curtailed or avoided during pregnancy
